Workshop on QCD in the Nonperturbative Regime
Various phenomena in medium energy nuclear physics involve
non-perturbative study of Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) and the workshop
will focus on some aspects of these. One topic of focus during the workshop will be the phase diagram of QCD
in the temperature (T) -baryon chemical potential (μB) plane. The beam
energy scan runs in the Relativistic heavy ion collider (RHIC) as well
as upcoming experiments in GSI, Darmstadt and at JINR, Dubna all have
the QCD phase diagram as their main physics goal. Substantial progress
has also been made in finding the QCD equation of state for small μB and
the study of the QCD critical point, using lattice QCD. Progress has also been made in understanding the dynamical properties of
the quark gluon plasma (QGP) created in heavy ion collisions at RHIC
and the LHC, both experimentally and theoretically. Other recent developments in QCD that will be covered include the
computation of the distribution functions of hadrons, large N QCD, the
combination of QCD and QED, and position space approaches.
