The 1st Malaysian VLBI Workshop
Very Long Baseline Interferometry
(VLBI) makes possible radio observations with angular resolutions as
small as 20 microarcseconds that are unachievable in any other
electromagnetic band. This technique has proven crucial to obtain the
recent first image of a black hole. In the Asia-Pacific region, India,
Australia, Japan, China and Korea have been very active in the radio
astronomy field of radio interferometry, and recently the East Asian
VLBI Network has been established. More recently, Indonesia, Thailand
and Vietnam are also becoming very active.
